Queensland car passengers hanging out of windows in 'very concerning' footage

Queensland police say a video released on a Facebook page showing people hanging out the window of a speeding car is "very concerning."

Two videos filmed by worried motorists were uploaded to the Moreton Crime Watch page on Sunday.

Police have said it could have ended in a terrible tragedy.

"It's extremely stupid and extremely reckless," Acting Senior Sergeant Michael Warren told 7News.

"If you can imagine, from what I understand, the vehicle was travelling at speeds (of) 80 kilometres an hour or more, and here's a number of lads hanging out of the vehicle.

"If any one of them had fallen onto the roadway, it certainly would have mean terrible injuries or death, or certainly the ones on the drivers side falling into the path of an oncoming vehicle."

It is believed the footage was taken between Gardners falls and Sippy Downs on Queensland's Sunshine Coast over the weekend.

Investigations are ongoing and authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

Drivers with dash cam footage are also being urged to get in touch with police.

The footage uploaded to Facebook has been viewed close to 29,000 times.
