Ex-NRL player Anthony Watts charged after Gold Coast wedding fight

Former NRL star Anthony Watts has been arrested and taken to a Queensland watch house over a fight at a Gold Coast wedding at the weekend.

Watts handed himself in to police on Monday morning after organising a meeting with officers via his lawyer.

The former hooker for the North Queensland Cowboys, has been accused of assaulting one of the bridesmaid's husbands at a wedding at Mudgeeraba on Friday.

A police spokesperson was unable to confirm the details but video footage has emerged showing Watts at Southport police station.


News Corp reports the former rugby league player, boxer and once-bikie-linked bad boy is expected to apply for bail when he faces court on Monday afternoon.

He did not comment on the Friday night incident on his way into the police station.

News Corp reports the wedding venue owner said Watts had stepped in to break up an argument at the wedding reception.

The alleged victim was treated at a hospital at Robina for injuries to his face.
