Violette Rodriguez said it was a ‘beautiful' day, speaking after her teenage daughter, who was allegedly kidnapped ten days ago from a French village, was found alive in a boot of a car in Germany.

Chloe Rodriguez, 15, of Barjac, Gard, was reported missing after going to visit a friend on her scooter, reports The Independent. Her scooter was later discovered, but her helmet and mobile phone were missing.

Her disappearance sparked a massive national manhunt with many fearing the worst.

However, the hunt ended on Friday - seven days after Chloe first went missing - when German police stopped a car close to the French border during a routine traffic stop.

After searching the vehicle, police found Chloe was alive and tied up in the car boot. The alleged kidnapper is now being held, say police.

Amazingly, reports in France suggest Chloe memorised details about her kidnapper, his car and its number plate but never went against his orders because she was scared he would kill her.

Violette Rodriguez, Chloé's mother, said: "There will be two birthdays for my little Chloé.

"This man who did her so much harm – there is justice. But I thank him anyway, because he kept her alive"
