Escort sisters shared sexual health certificate

Two sisters who worked as prostitutes at Brisbane brothels have faced court for sharing the same sexual health certificates, News Limited reports.

Emile Jayne Welch and Sonya Nita Welch of The Gap, pleaded guilty to imposition between May and August at Cleos on Nile at Woolloongabba at the Brisbane Magistrates Court.

Sex workers must provide sexual health certificates before they can work, under Queensland law.

The court heard both women had worked under the name of Eden on 15 occasions, but Emile had used her sister's certificates.

Emile admitted laziness was behind her borrowing Sonya's certificate, and Magistrate Wendy Cull accepted she was not hiding a sexually transmitted disease, and fined her $200.

"I just said I needed some money and I said can I borrow it. I didn't really have time to get the health check," Emile said.

"I just borrowed it and instead of then going to get another health check myself I continued to work under it for about 15 shifts."

Emile eventually had the correct sexual health tests and admitted to authorities what she had been doing.

"It was not because I was trying to cover anything up, I just was lazy," she said.

Emile is now working with disabled children while studying a university degree.

No conviction was recorded against either sister.
