Prosecc-Oh No! 30,000 litres of wine explodes from silo

Devastating footage has captured the moment 30,000 litres of Prosecco spilled onto the ground, never to touch the lips of wine connoisseurs.

A fountain of Italian wine can be seen exploding from burst fermentation silos as the bubbling liquid overflows at a winery in Conegliano in the Italian province of Treviso.

An employee recorded the gut-wrenching moment and it was shared on Facebook last week by wine shop L’enoteca Zanardo Giussano.

The six-second clip has been viewed more than 1.1 million times, fetching more than 1,000 comments from gutted wine lovers across the globe.

One man named Shane, who shared an Aussie flag along with his comment, was one of those left heartbroken by the clip.

I would grab as many containers, bottles, bags, cups and the report would be ‘Shane died doing what he loved the most’ attempting to drink a 100,000 litre bottle of wine,” he wrote.

Another tagged a mate, saying: “We need to pack up the rubber dingys and long straws and find this place.”

The cause of the wine explosion is not known.

The spill comes one year after a truck carrying thousands of litres of whisky and bourbon collided head-on with another truck near Coonalpyn, in South Australia.

Both drivers were lucky to have walked away from that fiery crash with minor injuries.
