Pregnant woman and partner found after vanishing in outback when car broke down

A pregnant woman and her partner, missing for three days after their broken-down car was abandoned in the Northern Territory outback, have been found safe.

Bianca Farnsworth, 25, and Cody Rowland, 29, had not been seen since they abandoned their old Mitsubishi Urvan on the Stuart Highway just before 3pm Friday.

Northern Territory police confirmed to Yahoo7 they located the couple safe and well at the Desert Oaks rest area, about 35km north of Erldunda on Monday.

“They were able to send a text message to a relative from the phone of another traveller, advising that they were safe after having car troubles,” a NT Police spokesperson said.

Police initially thought the Victorian couple and their pet Rottweiler had attempted to hitch-hike the remaining 200km to Alice Springs after their car broke down.

“Both are believed to be in good health however Bianca is several months pregnant with her first child,” A NT police spokesperson said in a statement before they were found.

“It is unclear what supplies or finances they have available.”
