Popular Adairs toy urgently recalled over risk of choking

Customers should stop using the toy with immediate effect.

Popular Aussie homewares giant Adairs has recalled a children's toy over fears it poses a choking risk.

The Little Drive toy from the Adairs Kids play collection was recalled because the gearstick knob on the toy can detach during play.

The item poses the risk of choking, suffocation or even death among young children if they put the item in their mouths.

Product may not comply with 'mandatory standard'

The wooden toy was crafted into the shape of a car’s dashboard. It features a fuel gauge, key ignition, gearstick knob, radio and hazard light button. It was sold in stores nationally and online between September 13 and October 27 this year.

“Affected products may not comply with the mandatory standard for toys for children up to and including 36 months of age,” the recall notice urged.

“The gearstick knob on the toy can detach during play.”

Customers urged to stop using toy 'immediately'

It added that consumers who purchased the toy should stop using it “immediately.”

“Consumers can return the toy to any Adairs store for a full refund or contact Adairs for a pre-paid label to post the toy back to Adairs.
