Popular actress and singer, 37, dies while filming video with friends

Popular actress and singer Queenzy Cheng has died while filming a short video with friends.

The 37-year-old was filming an episode for her social media channel Squad Sekawan on Tuesday when she suddenly felt nauseous and began vomiting gastric acid, according to reports.

Onsite staff called Malaysian emergency services for help before rushing over to fan the star as she began to pass out. According to those present, her heart was beating much faster than normal, and her lips rapidly turned purple.

An ambulance quickly arrived on the scene and paramedics gave Cheng immediate clinical assistance. But despite their efforts, she died in Damansara. “From the time she said she was dizzy to the time she died, it was only 30 to 40 minutes,” co-star Chai Zi told local media.

Star had no pre-existing medical conditions

She was reportedly healthy with no pre-existing conditions. Her shocking death was delivered to her 132,000 Instagram followers in a post.

“A beloved Malaysian singer, Queenzy captured the hearts of many with her soulful voice, particularly through her enchanting Chinese New Year songs that resonated with joy and tradition,” it reads. “Her musical legacy will forever echo in our hearts, serving as a comforting reminder of the joy she brought to countless lives.”

Cheng's cause of death was deemed to be a brain aneurysm. She is due to be cremated on Saturday. The 37-year-old was from Kangar, near the Thai border, and made her musical debut when she was just eight-years-old. She and three other singers formed the girl group M-Girls in 2001 and their albums went on to win several awards.

Following Cheng’s passing, her Squad Sekawan co-stars took to social media to write: “Ah Q, we will forever cherish your memories. Your laughter, love, and spirit will always remain an inspiration to us.”
