A man dressed in red runs past the Chemist Warehouse on the footpath, while the police officer follows on the road.

As the police officer catches up, the man is startled by his presence, giving the officer the perfect opportunity to pounce. He lunges forward and tackles him to the ground.

A scuffle ensues and the police officer eventually manages to get the man's hands behind his back as a bystander kicks a knife the man was allegedly carrying away from the scene.

Security from a nearby shopping centre eventually approach to assist the officer.

The person who shared the video to Facebook praised the officer's "great job" and the work of Queensland Police.

"We need that kind of commitment on the Broncos side!" another joked.

"How bloody good is this?" one person said.

"Buy that man a beer!" another user suggested.

One person said they hoped the police officer doesn't get gravel rash from the tackle.
