Police continue search for missing woman

Police are continuing the search in Coober Pedy for Karen Williams, who has been missing for more than 20 years.

The 16-year-old disappeared from her Coober Pedy home in August 1990.

Yesterday, police said they believed the mine shafts were the most likely place to find her body.

They are searching three mine shafts, but said today they are focusing their attention on one in particular.

They are also using a ‘blower’ to help speed up the digging of the mine shaft.

Police said they have a suspect in the case and are hoping his DNA will match up with that on the missing woman’s remains.

The case was declared a major crime in 1990, but police recently received new information that has prompted this search.

Last year, a $200,000 reward was offered for information leading to an arrest in the case.
