Tributes have flooded in for the teen, with friends remembering her as a popular young woman.

“She was friends with everyone, like everyone loved Haylee, and she was a really sweet person,” one friend told 7News.

Still too young to have a licence, she was driving the stolen car after a day at the beach when she lost control.

Haylee’s death brings Victoria’s road toll to 57, 22 more than at the same time last year.

“The lives lost in Victoria affects us all, in particular the members of our office and members of Victoria police who have to go and engage the family members and try to explain the circumstances that have led to the death of their child,” Detective Sergeant Jarrod Dwyer said.
