People outraged after getting text messages from political party promising to cancel similar texts

People are outraged after receiving a mass unsolicited text message from a political party which strangely promises to ban similar types of text messages from rival parties.

The message, believed to be sent by Clive Palmer’s United Australia Party (UAP), was sent to a number of Australians on January 17.

“When elected, United Australia Party will ban unsolicited political text messages which Labor & Liberal have allowed,” the message read.

The text message claims to be from the UAP and includes a link to a website with the url www.unitedoz.net.

However, the website has no content and contains a single line.

“Authorised by S. Sokolova, United Australia Party, Brisbane,” the website says.

Recipients are outraged by the bizarre message.

“Great way to fail again, Clive,” one Facebook user wrote.

“He’s a complete wombat,” another said.

Another outraged Facebook user said they received the text in the morning.

“I’d like to know where he got my phone number from,” the Facebook user said.

“No matter how many he sends me I am never voting for him. Ever,” another wrote.

UAP has been contacted for comment on the matter.
