Police 'make an example' of poo bomber

A man who set out to get his own back at police over a speed trap has dropped himself right in it.

Police in Austria have arrested a 55-year-old man from Mölltal with explosives training after he set a trip wire attached to fireworks and a bucket of manure.

The trap was set at a spot well-known to be frequented by traffic police.

The plan worked perfectly. An unwitting officer arrived ready to set up his radar, tripped over the wire and set of the poo bomb.

The 58-year-old officer was soiled but unhurt in the explosion, which erupted with enough force to snap the handle of an axe left atop the bucket of detonating dung.

Police in Carinthia, Austria, failed to see the funny side of the fiery act of civil disobedience though.

The Local reports Police chief Gottlieb Türk said police had made a point of solving the crime.

“We wanted to set an example,” he said.

“We can’t allow colleagues who are just doing their job to be attacked."

A DNA sample taken from the fireworks were reportedly the key to tracking down the culprit.
