Elderly man accused of robbing five houses can't remember due to 'low blood sugar'
A 77-year-old man could earn the dubious title of being Australia's oldest robber after he was charged with a series of burglaries in Sydney's south.
Police say Hamzigo Nuhic is a serial thief and fraudster who has broken into five homes in a little more than two months.
In his all his years, the Sydney man has learnt to tackle pesky questions, starting a “very long story” about “digging opal in Coober Pedy” when confronted by 7 News.
However that’s a story for another day.
When asked if he planned on pleading guilty to breaking into a Sydney house, Mr Nuhic asked a very fair question – “which one?”.
The Liverpool man said on the day police arrested him in July, he had low blood sugar.
“Are you Sydney’s oldest thief?” he was asked.
“No, no, no no… because when my blood sugar go down, I don’t know where I am,” he replied.
When he was arrested in Bexley last month, Nuhic was allegedly caught red handed with cash and jewellery but his court papers also suggest he has an extensive criminal history for break and enters as well as fraud."
The alleged cat burglar has apologised to all the people missing cash and other valuables.
He’ll be back in court next week with an interpreter.
