'Do you want to die tonight?' Mum says gun pointed at child's head during home invasion
A mother of eight has described how a gun was held at the head of her 11-year-old daughter, during a home invasion in western Sydney.
Police have said attack on the 33-year-old Whalan mother, who said she was too scared to be identified, her partner and their children on Thursday, was a random one.
The mum says she's lucky to be alive.
"I'm scared, I'm shaking. I haven't slept all night!"
Her 11-year-old daughter was sitting on the front steps of their home near Mt Druitt last night when it's claimed three boys approached and one held a gun at her head.
They then allegedly moved inside.
"This guy is standing there with a shotgun, he goes, do you want to die tonight motherf**ker!"
After threatening the family, the group of boys took off.
Mt Druitt Police Acting Inspector Matt Ireland described the attack at "extremely brutal".
"We're obviously very worried and concerned about that," he said.
Police are struggling to find a motive and have looked into the family's background.
At this stage they say there's nothing in their history that would warrant such an attack.
Police have released descriptions of the boys, saying one is aged about 15, of Aboriginal appearance and was wearing dark clothing and white sneakers.
The second has been described as dark skinned, had a bandana over his face and was wearing blue Lacoste shoes.
No description was given for the third offender.
Anyone who knows who they are, should call police.
