Terrifying footage shows distracted schoolgirl walk in front of car

A parent's worst nightmare has been captured on dashcam, showing a young schoolgirl's close call with a car as she attempts to cross the road while distracted.

The Sydney girl was filmed wearing headphones as she failed to look both ways while stepping off the kerb.

Luckily the approaching car saw the girl with enough time to come to a halt, within inches of her.

The driver would've been travelling under the 50km speed limit.

The schoolgirl seemed oblivious to the car, even when the driver beeped their horn a few times on approach.

She was visibly startled and jumped when she saw the car stop so close to her.

The footage follows another video which surfaced earlier this week that showed an oblivious woman failing to cross at a pedestrian crossing with a pram.

Instead the woman chose to step out in the middle of a busy six-lane road in the Sydney suburb of Balgowlah.

The woman's actions have since been slammed on social media as irresponsible.
