CCTV reveals failed ram raiders attempt to try and steal an ATM

CCTV has captured the moment failed ram raiders attempted to smash through the front of a shop to steal an ATM.

Two vehicles were abandoned after the botched attempt at Chipping Norton shopping centre at 1am on Wednesday.

A white Toyota Hilux is seen attempting to crash through the shop's door five times before it gets wedged between metal poles.

Police are hunting three men who fled the scene in a Mitsubishi Mirage, a stolen van was also left behind.

The owners and workers at the salon were left to clean up the mess left behind after the bodged attempt.

It's the second bungled ram raid in the area this month, with an ATM in nearby Wattle Grove targeted two weeks ago.

The cafe owner at Wattle Grove was left with a $30,000 bill for the damage caused.

Police believe the thieves were trying to drive through the Michel's Patisserie to get to an ATM inside the Wattle Grove shopping centre.

But when they got stuck they fled empty handed with two people still on the run after the overnight crime.

Cafe owner Darryl Lawson told 7 News: "I guess they just don't care about anyone's livelihood, they just care about themselves and trying to get cheap money"
