Riot squad visit Lakemba after fatal throat stabbing

The riot squad has entered a house in Sydney's south west near where a man died after having his throat cut.

At around 12.30am on Sunday emergency services were called to Garrong Road in Lakemba to find the injured man outside a block of units.

The riot squad arrived at Lakemba at around 9:30am.

The man, believed to be aged in his 40s, died at the scene.

“There are always brawls in that building,” a neighbour told News Corp.

Another neighbour, in his 60s, said he hadn't seen any incidents like this in the area in over a decade.

“I’ve been here 11 years in this street. You see the police sometimes pass by but we’ve never heard anyone screaming or a bashing, we’re very happy with this street,” he said.

“These days every street you go, doesn’t matter what area you go, sometimes there’s people dealing drugs and strange people.”

Police are treating the death as suspicious.
