In Digital Spy's review, we said: "A Family Affair is not as fun as the premise initially promises, and no amount of star power can fix that," and felt that fans would be left "wanting". Check out a selection of the other reviews for A Family Affair below:

Screen Rant

"Despite flaws, A Family Affair holds together on the strength of its comedy, even if it suffers a bit from targeting a passive streaming audience."

TheWrap

"The only joke in A Family Affair that lands is the very last one, and even that only gets a bit of a chuckle. It’s almost worth watching for Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman’s magnetism alone. If by 'almost' you mean 'not really.'"

Collider

"The prospect of new Netflix rom-coms beaming with all-star casts always leaves us feeling a little excited, but the attractiveness alone isn’t enough to sustain the passion in our streaming relationship."

IndieWire

"With A Family Affair, Efron picks up where 17 Again left off, and it’s a delight to see this former teen heartthrob back in a similar mode. A Family Affair truly is Efron’s film, for better and worse at times. And the feature does slot right in with the recent trend of age gap romances."

Hollywood Reporter

"A Family Affair‘s Hollywood material and its drama feel at times like they’ve come from two completely different films. But the lines are delivered with such heartfelt tenderness that for a moment, you might be moved in spite of yourself."

A Family Affair is now available on Netflix.
