Never mess with Aussie icon: Original Pizza Shapes are back on shelves

Arnotts’ Pizza flavour Shapes are back, proving you should never mess with an Australian icon.

In April, Arnott's dumped many of their original Shape flavours to improve the snack’s health star rating.

Some of the top-selling flavours such as Original BBQ, Chicken Crimpy and Savoury were left on the shelves.

However, Original Pizza and Cheese & Bacon were replaced with "new and improved" flavours.

The "improvements" meant the company baked their flavour into the biscuits instead of leaving them coated in seasoning.

Consumers were left devastated when they dipped their finger in the bottom of the silver packaging to find a sudden lack of excess flavour.

Shapes fans went into meltdown and critics called the new variety "disgusting".

Some even re labelled the well-known brand as "Ar-notts".

Although millions of dollars had been invested into creating the “new and improved” varieties, Australians demanded the company bring back the original flavours.

Subsequently, the Pizza flavour has been brought “back by popular demand”.

It is expected to hit shelves on Thursday.

Arnott’s spokesperson Nicky Thomson told Yahoo7 that "today is definitely a victory for pizza fans."

"Pizza was definitely the most changed and there is no denying a few consumers weren’t happy with the new flavor," Ms Thomson said.

"Since the launch of the New Shapes flavours, we’ve been listening to feedback and Aussies have clearly shown us the love they have for Original Pizza Shapes."

Ms Thomson said the company "canned the range with the best intentions" and truly believed the Shapes "were some of the best product ever launched".

For now, the Cheese & Bacon, Cheddar and Nacho Cheese flavours will not revert to the originals.
