Neighbour leaves pregnant woman terrifying note about ‘barking dogs’

A pregnant Queensland woman has returned home from work to find a disturbing note from a neighbour, threatening to kill her dogs if they don’t stop barking.

Hayley Ward lives by herself in Marcus Beach and considers her two mixed-bred Staffies, Lucy and Milo, to be her family and protection.

Four months pregnant with her first child, the 36-year-old surf club supervisor has a lot on her plate, so when she found a handwritten note in her letterbox on Sunday morning, she was left feeling sick to her stomach.

“Shut your f****ng dog up or I will bait it,” the note read.

“I was horrified, mortified, it’s just disgusting,” Hayley explained to Yahoo7 News, saying she knows exactly which neighbour is responsible for the note.

Hayley said Milo and Lucy are walked daily, have a huge yard to run around in and bark no more than your average dogs.

“I live on my own, I need this protection, I don’t have a partner,” she said.

“They’re not aggressive dogs, I’ve put a fence up on the side [of the house] so they are not too close to the front.

“It’s a threat, I don’t need this bulls***, I am four months along about to have my first baby.

In addition to filing a police report on Tuesday afternoon, Hayley said she now planning on photocopying the note and dropping a copy off at all of her neighbours’ houses to inform them of the threat she has received.

While she doesn’t think the person responsible would follow through with his threat, she has been resigned to placing barking collars on Milo and Lucy out of fear.

“I want the police to go around there and tell him to settle down, mind your own business,” she said.

“You just don’t make threats to people.”
