'Inhumane': Mystery over man's violent death on 'Fantasy Island'

Mystery surrounds the death of a young man who was holidaying in Puerto Rico, with his family demanding answers into his "horrific" death.

On July 18, the body of 36-year-old Christian Quezada, from the US state of Texas, was found by another tourist on Playa Negra beach in Puerto Rico.

Mr Quezada was found naked and beaten, his death came just days after his father died back in Texas.

His sister, Cynthia Quezada, told CBS Local they had to tell Mr Quezada the news of his father's death while he was on holiday and that he planned on coming back to the US.

However, come Saturday, July 17, Mr Quezada's family could not get in contact with him and were shocked when they were informed his lifeless body had been found on Sunday.

"His passing caught all of us by surprise, where no one ever expected such a sudden and inhumane death," it says on GoFundMe.

She told WFAA she could not explain the pain she felt when learning of her brother's death, not just for herself but for her mother.

On the GoFundMe striving for justice for Mr Quezada, it was explained his death was ruled on accident when authorities arrived at the scene.

"However, when Christian's brother and sister flew to Puerto Rico to identify the body and saw their horrific conditions, that was enough for them to perform (sic) it wasn't a mere accident, but instead, their younger sibling was definitely MURDERED," the GoFundMe says.

The GoFundMe says Mr Quezada's head was "severely beaten" and there was a chance he suffered a concussion.

He also had bruising on his back, so severe it was black, with more physical marks, his ribcage also showed signs of beating with more bruises.

"Help us solve Christian's murder and to also put an end on tourist's killing at the so-called 'Fantasy Island'," the GoFundMe says.

"Murders of tourists and locals are an increasing trend in Puerto Rico and tourists visiting should be made more aware of the dangers, even though you are going to the 'Fantasy Land', it doesn't mean you will live 'your' fantasy on your stay, but instead, you will be one more victim in the Fantasy Land's mortuary."

Puerto Rico's nickname is the 'Island of Enchantment', but it's also the setting for the reboot of the popular television show 'Fantasy Island', which is due to be released next week.

According to CBS Local, a homicide detective is looking into Mr Quezada's death and the family is determined the case is solved.

“My goal in life right now is to make sure that that case is solved,” Ms Quezada said.

“I want justice. That’s all I can say at this point.”

The GoFundMe described Mr Quezada as a "shy" man with a "good heart". You can donate to the GoFundMe here.
