Mystery as woman found naked 'with bruises and cuts' in Melbourne street

Days later, investigators are still grappling with the mysterious circumstances.

Police are requesting the public's help after "really struggling" to solve the bizarre case of why a woman was found naked with "quite serious cuts and bruises" on her body on the side of the road.

The 33-year-old was discovered by members of the community in a distressed state on Friday in the Melbourne suburb of Bulleen at about 4pm.

After emergency services attended the scene on Helene Street, she was taken to hospital in serious condition, Victoria Police said. However days later, investigators are still grappling with the mysterious circumstances despite speaking to the woman.

"We have spoken to her, however we are really struggling to try work out what has happened to this woman, whether she had been assaulted or how she’s come to be injured," an officer told 3AW on Tuesday morning, adding that she had "quite serious cuts and bruises" on her body.

Witnesses urged to come forward

It is believed she was seen in the vicinity of Templestowe Road before being discovered on Helene Street, with police asking people who may have seen something to get into contact.

"We're really struggling to find out exactly what happened to this woman," the officer told 3AW. "Whether she was assaulted, or how she's come to be injured."

Police are looking for the driver of a white ute and a cyclist who they believe can help in their investigation.

"Investigators believe a white utility and a person riding a bike were in the area at the time that the woman was discovered," Victoria Police said in a statement.

"The bike rider, who was wearing a yellow helmet, may have witnessed something and could provide information that could assist police with their enquiries."

Anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage is also urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online.
