Mum's 'spiteful' act after Coles run in: 'Am I in the wrong?'

After her toddler began having a 'tantrum' one fellow shopper began 'looking her up and down' so she decided to take some revenge.

A mum of three has shared how she got back at an "inconsiderate" woman in a Coles supermarket and Aussies are divided over what she did.

Content creator Lani was picking up two items from the shops while her youngest son was having a "tantrum" on her hip when Lani says one woman started "eyeballing" them. "Obviously Hudson's squeal was pissing her off, like it was pissing me off, but what do you do?" Lani said in a video online.

After realising the self-service checkouts were not working, Lani had to line up behind the same disapproving lady who continued to glare. But, Lani says, the real kicker was how this shopper, who was unpacking a trolley full of groceries, didn't then offer for her — with her two items — to cut in front.

Lani reasons that it was obvious she only had two items to quickly purchase — and she was holding a young child who was "slapping and scratching" while having a tantrum. So instead of continuing to stack the "$407" worth of shopping while "greasing me off", the lady in front could have let Lani go ahead.

"Me being the absolute spiteful b**ch that I am. I took her eggs and bacon and her butter that was at the back of the pile," Lani shared.

She reveals she set the three items back towards her and then, after the woman left, bought them herself. "I hope she gets home and tomorrow does not get to have her eggs and bacon for being an inconsiderate b**ch".

"[The lady] literally looked at me like Hudson was like the biggest germ in the world. Am I in the wrong?"

Letting someone go ahead is part of Aussie 'culture'

While many said they think it's "entitled" to expect this, Lani and hundreds of Aussies in the comments say that letting someone go ahead in a supermarket if they only have one or two items while you have many is the "culture" here.

"For all those confused, the culture in Australia of letting someone with two items go before you in the line is really common," one person explained.

A 'misbehaving child' is not an excuse

With Lani's revelation came the age-old debate between parents and those without kids, with hundreds responding that her child "misbehaving" is "not someone else's issue".

"What makes you think that you deserve to go ahead cause you have a child acting up? The world doesn’t revolve around you," one said, with others sending similar responses.
