Mum's simple hack for getting her stove back to sparkling clean

A savvy NSW woman has transformed her grime-covered stovetop to looking good as new with a simple $25 Kmart hack.

Lisa Frost, from the South Coast, shared her remarkable before and after pictures to the Kmart Mum’s Australia Facebook group yesterday, causing other amazed householders to sit up and take note of her cheap discovery.

“I have an upcoming house inspection and was quoted $120 to clean my stovetop (only the stovetop) this morning. I almost fell off my seat,” she wrote on Wednesday.

“I had previously tried using Jif and BiCarb to clean it but it just wasn’t removing the marks.”

Ms Frosts’ solution to make her stovetop sparkling again was a humble pressurised Hand Held Steam Cleaner.

Touted as a “household essential”, the $25 chemical-free game-changer is “great for cleaning ovens, grout and glass,” according to the Kmart website.

“Off to Kmart I went to purchase the Hand Held Steam Cleaner for $25. BAM

” Ms Frost added in the post.

“Second picture speaks 1000 words

If you don’t own one of these already you must purchase one!”

Dozens marveled the simplicity of the device, keen to give it a go in their own kitchens.

Others praised the eco-friendly appliance for making their ovens, shower screens, tiles, and grout shine.

However, consumers have been warned steamers could damage some hot plates that have a protective coating that can lift, causing damage to the cook top.

“I love this and love my steam cleaner but please be wary as the steam can lift the coating on your hot plates depending on what they are made off, makes them peel, happened in my last house! This house – awesome!”

A patch test would be advised, before trying the chemical-free method to make tarnished and grimey kitchen surfaces look sparkling clean.
