Mum, partner accused of child neglect appear in court
A mother and her partner accused of leaving a toddler strapped in the car as they were passed out have appeared in a Sydney court.
The 34-year-old mother, who cannot be named, and her 24-year-old partner ran from the Penrith courthouse on Monday.
The woman's 15-month old daughter was found in the back seat of a car in September as the couple allegedly "passed out" with drugs nearby.
The child was taken to Nepean Hospital for precautionary checks while the couple were arrested and taken to the Penrith Police Station.
They were released on bail while the little girl was placed in government care.
Appearing in court on Monday, the couple were not required to plead to the charges and remain out on bail.
They'll appear in court again next month while the little girl remains in care.
