Mongrels and outlaws finish on top

Both A and B-grade Karratha Districts Eightball Association grand finals were held at the Wickham Golf Club.

In the A-grade, Mongrels were not able to field a full team and only played four players, giving up three forfeited games to the Warriors, one in each of the three rounds.

In the first round, Warriors got off to a good start and won the first two games for a 3-0 lead.

Mongrels replied with the next two but were still down, 3-2.

In the next round, Mongrels managed to win three of the four games they played and level the score going into the last round at five apiece.

In a great start to the last round, Mongrels took the first two games and only need to win one of the last two remaining games.

They missed their first chance and it came down to the final game of the match.

In the final game, both players reached the black in a nervous finish.

But it was Mongrels that prevailed to take the match 8-7 and finish the year as A-grade premiers.

The B-grade final was another close match between Wreckers who have come into finals with strong form and the Dampier Outlaws who were unlucky not to contest the A-grade finals.

Wreckers got off to a good start and led the match 4-1 early.

From there, Outlaws played the better to overtake Wreckers and lead 7-6.

The 14th game was a close tussle and Wreckers needed it to keep their hopes alive, while Outlaws needed it for the match.

Outlaws took the game and match to be crowned the KDEBA B-grade winners.
