The moment traumatised dog rescued from burnt house in Greek fires
A canine survivor has been found in the wreckage of a house gutted by horrific bushfires in Greece.
The dog was discovered in Mati by 21-year-old physiotherapist Artemis Kyriakopoulou while searching the area for any pets too frightened to come out.
The unnamed Griffon breed, who is believed to be aged between four and five, had an injured back leg and singed fur on his back but was moved to a nearby vet and is getting better, Ms Kyriakopoulou said.
He has been temporarily adopted by a volunteer as his owner is yet to be been found.
Many animals have been found in the area after the deadly fires, either strays or pets whose owners are believed to have been killed.
“I’ve rescued a few animals from around here, most of them are so terrified they are completely quiet, so I need to check into the wreckage to find them,” Ms Kyriakopoulou said.
“This little guy was scared, burnt, starving and limping- I think he might have fractured his back leg,”
“It took me a couple of hours to convince him to come with me,”

“It’s so sad because we haven’t been able to find an owner – unfortunately in many cases, the owner has died in the fire,”
“I am soon heading back to Mati to look for more animals that might have survived,” she said.
The Attica region has been ravaged by fires over the last week, with the death toll standing at more than 90 people.
