Couple smoking on tram throw hot soup at woman on crutches for asking them to stop

A Melbourne woman with a broken leg was left in tears after she was reportedly scalded with hot soup on a tram

Meg Rayner told 3AW radio she was attacked for asking a man and a woman to stop smoking on the tram.

But when they wouldn’t cooperate she said she used Twitter to dob them in after they allegedly ashed another commuter and sparks from their cigarettes where everywhere.

The driver asked Ms Rayner who was smoking and she pointed the pair out.

They allegedly threatened to throw hot soup at “this b***h, I don’t care if she’s on crutches.”

“They got off the tram and she threw her hot soup at me,” Ms Rayner said.

“And as they got off the tram they threw a frozen coke through the window and got two more girls.”

Ms Rayner then reportedly walked to work on crutches in tears but has since praised Yarra teams and the driver for how they dealt with the situation.
