Mazda lodged into wall of home after horrific crash: 'Lucky to be alive'

A father had been asleep in bed when his home exploded into dust.

A Mazda 3 has become lodged in the wall of a Perth home after a driver launched off a curb and crashed into the bedroom of the rental.

Father Eddie Flynn had been asleep in bed in the suburb of Aveley at about 11.20pm when the car launched into his bedroom after losing control on Thursday night.

" The whole room just exploded into dust and debris," he told Nine News.

Horrific images from the scene show the hatchback car wedged in the middle of the bedroom wall, displacing a number of bricks. Debris collapsed into Mr Flynn's room while the front of the Mazda was completely smashed.

Nine News reports neighbours claimed the car had been travelling at high speeds before it hit a curb, launching the car through the air.

Mr Flynn was at home with his son Josh when the incident occurred, with the father showered by rubble after the car smashed into the wall.

They were both unharmed, however the 21-year-old Mazda driver was taken to hospital.

"A car just decided to come through the wall and join me in bed," the father told Nine News.

"Definitely lucky (to be alive) I'm going to get a lottery ticket as soon as I can find my wallet."

Following the crash, Mr Flynn said he heard the driver wailing and told his son to call emergency services.

The home is now unliveable and Mr Flynn told Nine while his belongings were destroyed during the horrific crash, he was grateful he was uninjured.

"Just concerned about where we're going to go from here, we've gotta find someplace to live now," he said.

WA Police told Yahoo News Australia the driver sustained minor injuries and investigations into what caused the crash were ongoing.

Yahoo News Australia has contacted St John Ambulance for comment.
