A Sydney man says the news of his division one Lotto win has "really brightened" up the city's Covid lockdown.
The man, from Sydney's inner-city, is one of eight division one winning entries across the country that scored $756,133 each in Saturday's Lotto draw 4171.
Confirming his win with The Lott on Monday morning, the man said he’d checked his ticket over the weekend.
“It was quite a shock, actually!” he said.
“I was at home yesterday, just sitting around when I decided to check my ticket.
“I went completely blank. Of course, I didn’t believe it at first but now the news is starting to sink in.
“It’s wonderful, especially during lockdown. It really brightens things up!”
The man said he's looking forward to no longer having to stress about money.
“It will give me extra security, so I just don’t have to worry about the little things,” he said.
“I will continue to keep working because I really enjoy work, but I will be a lot more comfortable.
“I won’t have to worry about the little things!”
The man purchased the winning ticket from Kent Street Pharmacy.
Owner Kam Wan said it was the first division one entry the store had sold.
“It is such lovely news for us and our customers during such a tough time for Sydney," she said.
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4171 were 23, 22, 30, 28, 38 and 34, while the supplementary numbers were 16 and 20.
Brisbane winner thought call was a joke
Another of the eight division one winners is a Brisbane man who was completely unaware until an official from The Lott called on Monday morning.
He initially thought the call was a joke but later exclaimed that his jaw had hit the floor.
“That’s the best news I’ve heard in my life,” he said.
A second Brisbane man has become an overnight millionaire thanks to last week’s Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw.
He takes home a whopping $1 million jackpot.
