WATCH: Tasmanian rides lawnmower to service station, fails breathalyser test

It's been said they do things differently in Tasmania, and this video footage from Tasmania Police might just prove it.

CCTV footage has emerged of a man driving a ride-on lawnmower into a Lindisfarne service station for refuelling, with another man following behind on foot.

Police officers can then be seen pulling up alongside in a van.

The lawnmower 'driver' was breathalysed and recorded a blood alcohol level on 0.143, well over the legal limit.

Police charged the man on two counts - exceeding the drinking limit but also driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.

However, the police proved they had a sense of humour by posting the footage to their Facebook page with the quip: "Old mate was already on the gas when he decided to ride his lawnmower to his local service station to fill up.

"Mate, we suggest getting a ride, not a ride-on!"
