Man pretended to be ghost of ex-fiancee's mother to reunite with her

A man who pretended to be the ghost of his ex-fiancee’s mother in a bizarre plan to rekindle their romance has been sentenced.

Roy Meadwell, from Yeovil in the UK, violated the terms of a restraining order by sending Kay Wimbury a letter which purported to come from the ghost of her dead mother.

Meadwell was handed four months in jail, suspended for two years, according to the BBC.

He was originally forbidden from communicating with Ms Wimbury after attacking her in 2016.

The restraining order also prohibited Meadwell from visiting Cornwall, where Ms Wimbury lived.

But he travelled into the country four times.

Letter from beyond the grave

Meadwell visited Cornwall’s Willow Moon psychic shop for a reading in 2017.

Ms Wimbury later received an anonymous letter which included a leaflet from the same psychic’s shop.

The letter did not refer to Meadwell by name, however it mentioned “the man who sacrificed everything for you”.

“All you have to do is to call him,” Exeter Crown Court heard the letter also said.

Ms Wimbury also received an anonymous message from a “well-wisher”.

“OMG (sic) can’t you see the greatness in this man,” the message said.

Ms Wimbury said the letters talked about incidents which only herself and Meadwell would know, therefore she knew he had written them.

The restraining order still remains.
