Man finds lost lotto ticket days before it was due to expire

A man has claimed his Powerball prize just days before his ticket expired.

Anil Philip, from the US state of Michigan, played the Michigan Lottery on March 14, 2020 and won A$196,000.

“I like to play the Powerball game and was so excited when I found out I won US$150,000,” he said.

“I won the prize right when Covid-19 hit, so I decided to wait to claim the prize. I ended up misplacing the ticket and just found it a few days ago.

“I was so relieved and excited to have found it just in time before it expired.”

Powerball reaches $50 million jackpot

In Australia, Powerball has jack-potted to $50 million ahead of Thursday’s draw.

No one was able to claim the $30 million draw earlier this week.

The winning numbers for Powerball draw 1299 were 3, 4, 12, 13, 14, 21 and 24 with the all-important Powerball number 6.

However, two players still managed to split the division two prize, pocketing $238,410.45 each.

One lucky Aussie claimed $50 million from a Powerball draw on March 18.

The winner, a Sydney mum, said she almost didn't buy a Powerball entry which she purchased from CTC Eastern in Maroubra, in the city's east.

The odds of taking out the division one prize in Powerball is 134,490,400 to 1.

"The weather has been absolutely crap and so I wasn’t even going to buy a ticket because I didn’t want to go out. I also thought there’s no way I would be the winner," she told The Lott.

"But at the last minute, I had to duck out so I thought I would try my luck."
