Man caught on CCTV 'swinging dog around by leash'

A man has been arrested after surveillance footage allegedly showed him swinging a dog around by its leash and slamming it into the ground while filming on his mobile phone.

Michael Fore was captured October 27 in Redwood Shores, a waterfront community in Redwood City, California, allegedly pulling the dog by its leash then swinging it into the air and forcefully slamming it to the ground multiple times, police said.

The 30-year-old’s alleged despicable actions were first reported to police by a concerned citizen, sparking an investigation and the request for public help in identifying him.

Two days after releasing still images from security footage, police confirmed Fore as the suspect and on October 30, arrested him from his home in East Palo Alto.

During the arrest, police alleged that he tried climbing out onto the balcony from his third-floor apartment and onto the roof of the apartment complex.

The officers were able to detain him on the roof and place him under arrest.

Fore was charged with animal cruelty and taken to San Mateo County Jail to await sentencing.

Police located the owner of the dog, who was completely oblivious to the incident.

The dog was found in good health and with no signs of lasting injury.

Redwood City Police expressed gratitude to the public in their help in identifying the suspect.
