A young man has had his driving licence suspended and will appear in court after allegedly blowing a blood-alcohol reading nearly six times the legal limit.

South Australian police officers caught up with the man on Sunday morning after other concerned motorists made multiple calls into police, alleging the man was driving erratically and swerving on Adelaide’s roads.

A traffic patrol officer stopped the man in the inner-city suburb of Gilberton about 10.15am.

“The driver, a 25-year-old Parafield Gardens man, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.291,” the police said.

“He was reported for drink driving, providing a false name, driving while disqualified and driving unlicensed.

“His vehicle was towed from the scene to be impounded for 28 days.

The police issued him with an additional 12-month instant loss of licence and the man will be summoned to appear at Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.
