Major truck crash results in man fighting for life after he was crushed inside his cabin

A major crash involving three trucks in Sydney’s west has resulted in a fight to save a life.

One driver was left critical in hospital after he was crushed in his cabin.

The crash happened on the M7 at Cecil Hills, near Liverpool mid morning on Monday.

A problem with brakes saw the first semi trailer come to a halt.

A smaller pump truck quickly slowed but was jammed under the trailer by the braking semi behind.

It was a scene that shocked emergency rescue teams who were startled to find a driver trapped, but alive in his shattered cab.

Other drivers stopped and rushed to assist, only to find a young truckie in great pain.

The 27-year-old was trapped by the legs.

Traffic was left backed up for kilometres as crews worked for more than two hours to get the man out of the wreckage.

Remarkably the man survived the crash impact and was even talking to his rescuers.

"I was fortunate to speak to the driver a number of times throughout the incident he was conscious throughout the incident and in reasonably good spirits,” NSW Police Inspector Paul Martin said.

"He was extremely lucky it was just fortunate the gods were smiling on him today. "
