M5 closure: Lorry driver trapped after bridge crash
A motorway has been closed after a lorry hit a bridge, leaving the driver trapped and injured.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said three fire engines and one heavy rescue unit were on the scene and using hydraulic cutting equipment to release the driver.
One lane on the M5 northbound between Junction 25 and 24, near Taunton, remains closed.
Police have urged motorists to seek other routes. National Highways has confirmed the "closure is expected to remain throughout the day".
Calls to emergency services were made just before 06:30 BST.
Traffic was also temporarily halted on the southbound carriageway to allow an air ambulance to land but the road has since reopened.
Both police and National Highways have asked motorists to avoid the area if possible, with a diversion in place through Taunton and towards Bridgwater.
