Harley Davidson rider’s surprise response to police after losing licence

Approximately two and half thousand motorcycle crashes are reported in NSW each year. But this particular driver 'refused to take any responsibility for his dangerous riding'.

An Aussie motorcyclist has claimed police have "ruined his life" after he was allegedly detected speeding more than 60 kilometres above the legal limit — double the allowed speed in the area.

Officers attached to the Hawkesbury Highway Patrol say they clocked the rider in Agnes Banks, near Richmond in NSW, travelling at 123km/h in a 60 zone on Saturday at about 12.30pm.

Police say not only was the man travelling more than double the designated speed limit. He also failed to acknowledge his actions or accept any blame.

"The motorcycle was stopped and the male rider produced his unconditional NSW rider's licence. This offence resulted in the rider having his driver's licence suspended for six months and receiving six demerit points," NSW Police said.

"The rider refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing on his behalf and refused to take any responsibility for his dangerous riding."

They said in response to having his licence suspended, the man said officers had "ruined his life".

"People using motorcycles on the roads are reminded to ride to live, there are no airbags, seat belts or crumple zones to protect you," police said. "The only crash avoidance system on a motorcycle is the rider."

Approximately two and half thousand motorcycle crashes are reported each year in the state, according to the Motorcycle Council of NSW. They represent six per cent of all road crashes, but account for 15 per cent of all deaths, and 10 per cent of all injuries on NSW roads.

After footage of the Agnes Bank event was uploaded on social media, Aussies quickly weighed in with their thoughts.

"This guy is out of his mind, deserves everything he gets, well done HWP," one man said. "NSW Police Force — you haven’t ruined his life — you have saved his life. He is an accident waiting to happen, I bet you he will still ride with out a licence," wrote another.

"Should think himself lucky that HWP officers stopped him before he killed himself or some other poor innocent person," a woman said, while another branded the man "entitled".
