Little girl's desperate act moments before grandfather's death
Harrowing video has revealed the moment a little girl desperately pleaded with her grandfather not to ignore traffic signals seconds before his death.
The pair were attempting to cross a busy junction in the Chinese city of Putian in Fujian province on January 2 when the grandfather attempted to cross the road despite oncoming traffic, Chinese publication The Paper reported.
Noticing the red light for the pedestrian crossing, the young girl, 4, attempts to pull her grandfather back, however he ushers her forward.
After two vehicles pass them, she continues to pull her grandfather’s arm but to no avail.
They are both then struck by a third vehicle, sending them into the air before landing on the ground in front of the vehicle.
The car comes to an abrupt halt and remarkably the girl manages to stand up, relatively unscathed.
However, her grandfather was killed in the collision.
Video triggers huge response online
The footage has prompted a wave of comments on China’s Twitter-like social media site Weibo with many noting the girl’s maturity.
“The granddaughter wants to pull you back from death but unfortunately you are too stubborn,” one person wrote.
“Thankfully the girl is fine,” another said.
The video was released to the official TikTok account of the Traffic Police Division of the Public Security Bureau of Putian City.
