Big Little Lies star Laura Dern has given an update on season three of the hit drama.
The HBO adaptation of Liane Moriarty's bestselling novel centres around the characters played by Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley and Zoë Kravitz, who all find themselves in the midst of a murder investigation.
Season 2 aired in 2019 and Dern, who portrays the wealthy and volatile Renata Klein, has offered a promising update for a third instalment.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Dern said: "I can tell you that all of us who are involved in it would never imagine a better time."
Continuing, she said: "We love each other so much and would have the time of our life being back together, and we love our characters so much."
However, she also added: "I truly know what you know. But I know that it is something that they are working diligently at dreaming up, and I sure hope it comes to fruition."
Co-star Kidman previously similarly confirmed a third season was on the way.
Speaking at a Q&A event at the CME Group Tour Championship in November, she said: "We will be bringing you a third one, FYI."
And, executive producer Witherspoon also recently dished on a third season – and it's looking good.
In a red carpet interview with Variety at the Golden Globes, she said: "We are working on it. Nic and I have been working on it a lot."
There has been no official word on a third season, nor any potential casting updates.
Dern doesn't exactly have an empty slate, though. She has starred in Apple TV+'s period comedy miniseries Palm Royale, which will be available to stream on March 20.
Big Little Lies aired on HBO in the US and on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
