Katz deliver the goods at crunch time

Pardoo Katz Jayden Brown dishes off a drive.

Two clutch three-pointers from Danny Brown were the crucial difference in Pardoo Katz's 29-27 win in the Karratha Basketball Association finals which saw the Coral Trouts eliminated from the play-offs.

The men's A-grade three versus four semifinal was a close contest and Trouts looked to have the goods early against the slow- starting Katz.

Katz gave away cheap fouls and the Trouts capitalised at the charity stripe.

With early jitters gone, Katz came back to lead at the first break 14-13 as Trouts' scoring dried up.

Points came steadily for both teams before Katz opened up a six to zip run, sparked by Brown's first three-pointer with 13 minutes left in the game, to lead 24-16.

Trouts adjusted their game as the twin towers of Leigh Cover and Simon Perry teamed up on the low post to bring it back.

Cover scored a bucket right in the key before being fouled on a shot after getting a defensive stop at the other end and hitting one of his free throws he rebounded the second himself and dished to Perry for a score.

Cover got another of the Perry assists in the ensuing minutes to bring Trouts back into the lead 25-24.

Trouts point guard Pablo Newton-Farley tried to lock down the game but Jayden Brown picked his pocket and went coast to coast to wrestle back the lead 26-25.

The ball was back in Trouts court but another turnover led to a Katz possession that ended with a deep three from Brown, his second, which all but sealed the ball game.

With one minute on the clock, Cover quickly sunk two free throws for Trouts but a full court press couldn't force the error as Katz went through to a preliminary final match against the Thunder - the winner of which will go on to face the Mayuga Majik in the grand final. In other games, the Tigers beat Comets 19-16 in the one versus two semi of the women's B-grade finals.

Hello Trouts knocked out Croodz with a one-point win, 18-17, in the women's A-grade finals and Vipers eliminated Prodigy with a 34-24 win in the men's B-grade.
