Jockey steals a kiss from Meghan Markle at Ascot

It’s one of the biggest events on the royal calendar and while racing fans may have been eagerly watching the horses at Ascot, others were there to catch a glimpse of the famous family.

In fact, it seems even the jockeys were caught up in the royal spell on the day, as jockey Frankie Detorri, who won the St. James’ Palace Stakes race, was captured kissing the Duchess of Sussex’s hand after she presented him with his trophy.

The Italian father-of-five told Meghan Markle his children would be extremely pleased that he had met the newest member of the family, before planting a small peck on her hand.

However, Meghan’s husband, Prince Harry, didn’t look impressed and jokingly pointed his finger at Detorri, seemingly telling him off.

Speaking afterwards, Detorri said it was a special moment for him and said his children would be ecstatic about it.

“My kids will be more impressed about that than actually winning the race,” Detorri said, according to the Daily Mail.

“It’s great for such young monarchs to present a great trophy and I am very humble.”

It was Meghan Markle’s first appearance at the famous race day, with the Duchess looking stunning in a white Givenchy long-sleeved dress and a Philip Treacy hat.

The Duchess is obviously a huge fan of the dress designer, having of course worn a Clare Waight Keller creation for her wedding and for her first appearance with the Queen last week.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were joined at the racecourse by Queen Elizabeth, who glowed in a lemon coat and matching hat.

She made her way into the event in a carriage alongside her daughter, Princess Anne, who was no doubt celebrating the birth of her daughter, Zara Phillips’ child.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle rode in a carriage with Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie Wessex.
