Items recalled over contamination fears

A gluten-free product range has been pulled from shelves over fears it is contaminated with plastic.

The Gluten Freedom range sold at IGA supermarkets and independent retailers across the country was recalled by Food Standards ANZ on Thursday.

The products were found to contain plastic and if consumed, could cause illness or injury.

It relates to the Broken Black Rice and Polenta Sourdough, Everything Sourdough Bagels and Splendid Sourdough English Muffins.

The products have been sold in NSW, ACT, QLD, VIC, TAS, SA, NT, WA but only includes those produced within a specific batch.

Consumers can determine if their products have been impacted by checking the best before date written on the package.

The products included in the recall:

  • Broken Black Rice & Polenta Sourdough. Best Before 17 FEB 24 up to and including 09 MAR 24

  • Gluten Freedom Everything Sourdough Bagels- Best Before 01 MAR 24 up to and including 12 MAR 24

  • Gluten Freedom Splendid Sourdough English Muffins- Best Before 17 FEB 24 up to and including 09 MAR 24

Food Standards is warning consumers not eat these products and can return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Any consumers who are concerned about their health are urged to seek medical advice.
