Israeli Border Police officer stabbed in frenzied knife attack
An Israeli Border Police officer was stabbed while heading home in a frenzied knife attack caught on security camera.
A 16-tear-old suspect allegedly set upon the 37-year-old Christian officer on Friday night.
The teen jumped on the man's back an allegedly stabbed the officer multiple times in the upper body, causing moderate wounds Haaretz reports.
Another man tried to intervene to separate the man and boy but was cast away. The pair broke apart briefly before the teen took a run at the guard while holding the knife high.
Police later arrested the male teen from the villages of Western Galilee.
Initial reports suggested the attack was politically motivated, but police have since corrected this to say the officer and the teen were seen arguing before the attack took place.
Knife attacks have become increasingly common in Israel and the Occupied Territories, favoured by young men and teenagers who have used them to attack Israeli military personnel and civilians.
