Third $50m Powerball winner comes forward to claim share of record jackpot

An Ipswich grandmother has come forward to claim the remaining $50million Powerball prize from last week’s record-breaking $150m jackpot.

The Lott spokesperson Lauren Cooney said the winner was “overwhelmed” after checking her ticket and discovering she’d won on Thursday.

“I can’t believe it. I knew I wouldn’t be able to believe it until I called you but now I’m on the phone to you and I still don’t believe it!” the winner said.

She joins an inner-city Brisbane man and Sydney father in claiming the three eye-watering Division One prizes from last week’s draw.

The latest winner said she’d been putting off checking her ticket as she never thought it would actually be her ticket to scoop the gargantuan prize.

“I kept putting off checking my ticket because I was waiting to hear that someone else had claimed the prize,” she explained.

“But then when I hadn’t heard an update, I thought to myself ‘I’d better check that ticket’.”

The retiree said she plans to share the money with her siblings, children and grandchildren, making them millionaires in the process.

She has also identified her first purchase with the money.

“I’ve always dreamt if one day I won Powerball, I’d buy myself a Mustang! So I’ll definitely be doing that!” she said.

The owner of the Ipswich store where she purchased her ticket said he is over the moon the winner has finally come forward.

“We are absolutely delighted and relieved to know this woman has claimed her prize,” Devinder Bassie said.
