The issue, which arose on Saturday and is said to be date-related, is caused by Local Notifications which apps use to flash information on screen for the user.
But not all is lost for iPhone owners and a simple fix will quickly rectify the issue.
Apple has since moved to make amends for the problem and have provided handset owners with a new software update.
First of all users must open Settings and then select Notifications.
They must then go through each app and turn off all notifications.

Users must then update the device to iOS 11.2 by opening General, and then Software Update.
Once updated, return to each app in Notifications and turn all notifications back on.
These quick steps should leave all devices problem free and considerably improve the mood of thousands of disgruntled Apple customers.
