Internet loses it as simple spoon question goes viral: 'I couldn't deal'
The two spoons appear to be exactly the same – but they produce viscerally different reactions for some people.
A simple question about spoons has divided people on the internet and revealed a hidden habit many of us share in the process.
A woman who goes by Mum.Me.And.Emily on TikTok, posed the question in the straightforward video which showed nearly identical spoons lying side by side on her countertop.
"I have recently found out that there are some people in the world that can go into a cutlery drawer and pick either of these spoons," she said, before claiming there was definitely a superior option.
She then asked people which spoon they prefer. A simple question with an apparently not so simple answer.
Despite the spoons appearing somewhat identical at first glance, subtle differences between the two competitors apparently speak volumes to the sides who advocate for them.
The first option is slightly smoother and has a wider head, in comparison to the second has a ridged handle and pointier head. The subtle difference has proved to be a major talking point.
The video has amassed more than 7 million views on the popular app, with thousands of users jumping on board to adamantly share their personal preference, while others detailed the sometimes intricate thought process behind their decision.
"Option 1, I couldn't deal with those sharp edges," a user said.
"Option 2 can handle making a brew, if I’m delving into a pot of ice cream tho, option 1 all the damn way", another wrote.
"Option 2. My husband always brings me spoon options. It differs for what I am eating with said spoon too!" a third explained.
TikToker reveals which spoon claims first place
In a following video, the woman chimed in with her own preference but expressed she was "really nervous" after reading so many devoted comments for the opposing spoon.
She claimed the superior was spoon number one, explaining she didn't like the ridges on option 2, believing it was too sharp.
"Of course, it's option number 1. It's the winner!" she shared.
