Instagram model's 'murder of mum' so gruesome 'it's hard to believe'

WARNING - DISTURBING CONTENT: An Instagram model has been arrested on suspicion of committing the gory murder of her mum then causally taking a shower and meeting up with her boyfriend.

Anna Leikovic, 21, has been accused of slicing open the abdomen of her mum, Praskovya Leikovic, 40, then pulling out her heart, lungs and intestines, local news website Nokta reported.

The medical student, from Moldova in Eastern Europe, then allegedly calmly took a shower and left the house to meet up with her boyfriend.

Her mum was reportedly still alive after being stabbed and while her heart was being pulled from inside her body.

“She stabbed her mother with a knife and then cut out the heart of a living woman,” a police source said, according to Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper

The student “decided to rip the heart out of the chest of a dying woman,” he said.

“It is hard to believe but she cut out the heart in the most literal sense of the word.”

Ms Leikovic was arrested the following day and appeared in court, where she put on an unusual performance for cameras.

She was shown in video footage laying on the dock and cleaning her nails, then standing on a bench when the judge entered the courtroom.

When she was approached by journalists asking if she was responsible for the crime, she reportedly laughed and said “goodbye”.

Local media reported the mum had returned home from working in Germany to her daughter, who she suspected was on drugs.

The daughter then reportedly became angry when her mum asked her to seek treatment for her drug problem.

A police spokeswoman confirmed Ms Leikovic was the “main suspect” and there was “no likelihood of other suspects”.

“A thorough investigation is required to clarify the motive for the murder,” she said.
