Husband wins lotto jackpot after checking old ticket in car
A hardworking Sydney man has found out just how worthwhile it is to clean out his car every now and then after he found a ticket laying inside worth $200,000.
The winning entrant, who asked to remain anonymous, decided to pick up the ticket for the Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw after begrudgingly accompanying his wife on a shopping trip at Bonnyrigg.
Initially under the impression he had won just $1000, the Chipping Norton man scooped up the ticket and headed into a store to claim his prize.
“At NSW Lotteries, the lady scanned it and said ‘Do you know you’ve won $200,000?’. I said ‘oh s***!’. I had no idea,” he said.
“This ticket has been sitting in the car for a while. I don’t check every week, maybe once a month.
“I just can’t believe it.”
Some cash in the bank and an overseas holiday now beckons for the ecstatic couple.
“This puts a bit of icing on the cake. I’ll keep it in the bank for now and maybe use some of it for a trip overseas at some stage.”
